I can surprise you with one of my many “tried and true” favorite art projects or customize your child’s art experience depending on his/her personality.

  • “The arts motivate and engage children in learning, stimulate memory, facilitate understanding and provide an avenue for building competence.” –  Young Children and the Arts: Making Creative Connections.
.
After looking at caterpillars more closely (outside and through various books like “It’s a caterpillar” by Elisa Peters), the children noticed that caterpillars have many different features. To encourage further observations we created our own caterpillar drawings and had much fun with printing and color mixing using chalk pastels.
.
Many questions and much learning ensued: “Why do some caterpillars have soft hairs? Why do some caterpillars have stripes? Do caterpillars have eyes? Do they have teeth to chew on the leaves? Why do they need spikes?”.
.
More details and ideas on the blog (link in profile) 🐛❤️.
  • Encouraging closer observation while adding different details and features to our caterpillar drawings. More details on the blog (link in profile) 🐛.
  • We are experimenting with drawing, printmaking and chalk pastels as we are learning about caterpillars and are looking closely at their different features 🐛. Find all the details on the blog (link in profile) ♡.
  • We ❤️ printing.
  • Our bunnies love all the bright spring colors 🌸🌱🌼🌿🐇. After reading the wonderful book “Quiet Bunny’s Many Colors” by Lisa Mc Cue we colored our own bunnies with liquid watercolors, sharpies, paintbrushes and droppers. Happy Easter 🐰🐣!!!
  • Following “Quiet Bunny’s Many Colors” by Lisa Mc Cue with @craftymothering inspired spin art bunnies 🐰❤️!
  • Storytime based on the wonderful book “Quiet Bunny’s Many Colors” by Lisa Mc Cue:
Bunny loves all the bright spring colors and searches for creative ways to color it’s own winter fur. Of course we’ll join the fun with bunny coloring activities 🐰🐇🌈!
